Wedding DJ Extras and Upgrades FAQs

Do I need a premium DJ and lighting upgrade for a marquee wedding?

If your reception is in a marquee, barn, large suite, or high ceiling venue, a premium upgrade is often worth it. Bigger spaces absorb sound and light differently, so a standard setup can feel less impactful. A premium upgrade typically improves coverage, clarity and atmosphere, with stronger sound reinforcement and a more complete lighting look so the room feels “finished” once the evening party begins. If you tell us your venue, room size and guest count, we will recommend the most suitable option rather than pushing the biggest package.

Can I add extra hours to my wedding DJ package after booking?

Yes. Many couples decide later that they want extra hours for the wedding DJ, especially if speeches run long or the dancefloor is busy. If your venue allows it and your date is available, extra hours can usually be added in advance, and often on the night too. The only limitations are venue curfews, sound limiters, and staffing logistics, so it is best to flag it early if you think you might want to extend.

How much does it cost to add extra hours to a wedding DJ booking?

Extra hours are usually priced as an hourly add-on, and the final cost can depend on finish time, travel, and venue access. What matters most is whether the venue permits a later finish and whether there is a strict shutdown time. If you want a clear quote, send your venue name, wedding date, and expected finish time, and we will confirm the best option.

What size starlit LED dancefloor do we need for 80 guests?

A good rule of thumb is that roughly 30 to 50 percent of guests will be on the dancefloor at peak moments. For around 80 guests, many couples choose a floor size that comfortably fits 25 to 40 people dancing without feeling cramped. Your best size also depends on whether you want space for group dances and photos, and how much room your venue has once tables are in place. If you share your room measurements or layout, we can recommend a size that looks right and works practically.

Where do illuminated LOVE letters look best at a wedding?

LOVE letters tend to look best in one of three places:

  • Behind or beside the top table, as a strong feature in your evening photos

  • Near the dancefloor, so they appear in party shots without blocking the flow

  • By the entrance or a photo area, so guests naturally use them as a backdrop

The main thing is avoiding areas where the letters block walkways, emergency exits, or venue staff routes. We can also advise on placement based on your venue lighting and where your photographer plans to shoot key moments.

Will wedding uplighting affect photography and video?

Uplighting usually improves photos and video because it gives the room a warmer, more premium look and reduces harsh contrasts. The key is choosing colours that suit the room and your theme, and avoiding overly intense tones that can tint skin tones in close-up shots. If you have a photographer or videographer, we can keep uplighting balanced and flattering, and adjust it later in the evening when the party lighting takes over.

Can I book a live saxophonist with the DJ for drinks reception and again in the evening?

Yes. This is a popular choice because it gives you two completely different moments. Couples often use sax for a feel-good drinks reception set to lift the atmosphere, then bring it back for the evening party to create a headline-style peak. Timing matters, so we usually plan the sets around your schedule, such as after confetti, after speeches, or after the first dance, so it feels intentional rather than random.

Do wedding venues have restrictions on lighting, sound levels, or special effects?

Many venues do, and it is normal. Common restrictions include sound limiters, fixed finish times, and rules on equipment placement, especially in listed buildings or venues with neighbours. Some venues also limit haze, confetti, or certain fixtures. Before your event, we will confirm access, power, curfews, and any venue rules so everything runs smoothly. If you are unsure, send us the venue name and we will help you check what is allowed.

What is the most popular wedding DJ upgrade for guest experience?

Extra time and the premium lighting upgrade are the most popular because they directly affect the atmosphere. Extra time keeps the party going, and upgraded lighting makes the room feel finished and high energy. If you want a strong visual centrepiece, the starlit dancefloor is the standout for first dance photos.

Can we match uplighting colours to our wedding theme?

Yes. Uplighting can be colour matched to your theme for the daytime and early evening, then adjusted later when party lighting takes over. If you want a classic look for photos, warm tones and softer colours tend to be most flattering.
